I can remember going there several times with Grandma Murray
to collect rent from whomever they had rented it to. There was not just one building, but two
buildings. The other building was
apartments they owned and rented out.
Here is what their daughter Myreta Murray Judkins said in an
interview I did with her several years ago.
“And all the time they owned it I worked there and helped,
Newell did, in fact the whole family, Betty, Leo, Fenton, and Delsa worked
in the evenings and on weekends they did help them out. Wendol work full-time
for Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad rented their house on 45th and lived in the
basement up there. It got just a little bit too much, it got to where we
did not have any home life neither Mother and Dad and us either. So dad leased
it and sold it, at that time I believe he leased it he later sold it, but he
had to take it back, later Mother and Dad just leased out the property to other
people until it was sold. After my father's death and just before my mother
died it was sold. Mother made a pretty good profit on it at that time. My
mother paid for the rest home and the things she needed to survive.
